Malai Dal Recipe

Black Gram – 250 gms
Garlic – 6 flakes, cut into thin round pieces
Ginger – 1 tsp, julienned
Chilli Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Water – 6 cups
Ghee – 1 tblsp
Fresh Cream – 1/4 cup, whipped

To Garnish:
Ghee – 1 tblsp
Jeera – 1/2 tsp
Onions – 1/2, chopped very finely
Chillies – few

1. Fry the garlic in ghee.
2. Add water, ginger and dal.
3. Add chilli powder, salt and cook in a pressure cooker for 15-20 minutes.
4. Remove the lid and cook in a low heat for 20 more minutes.
5. Add cream and cook for 2 more minutes.
6. Heat 1 tblsp of ghee in a pan.
7. Add 1/2 tsp of jeera, onions and chillies.
8. Fry till brown.
9. Pour over dal and Serve hot.
