Cabbage Dal Kootu

Ingredients:
Onions – 2
Green Chillies – 3
Tomato – 1 or 2
Coconut – 1/4 cup, grated
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Aniseeds – 1/4 tsp
Green Gram Dal – 1/4 cup
Cabbage – 1/2 cup, shredded
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tblsp

Method:
1. Cut onion, tomatoes and cabbage finely.
2. Slit green chillies into two.
3. Grind coconut, cumin and aniseeds separately.
4. Cook dal with enough water and turmeric powder.
5. When it is 3/4th cooked add cut cabbage and cook till it is soft and dal is mashed properly.
6. Add chilli powder, fried onion, green chillies and tomatoes.
7. Pour the ground mixture with enough salt.
8. Mix well and cook.
9. Serve hot.
