Red Gram Dal – 1/2 cup
Coconut – 1/2 cup, grated
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Garlic – 6 flakes
Onions – 3
Green Chillies – 4
Tomatoes – 2
Salt as per taste
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Jeera – 1/2 tsp

For Garnish:
Curry Leaves – few
Coriander Leaves – few

1. Cut the onions, slice tomatoes and slit the green chillies into two.
2. Grind coconut, ginger and garlic together.
3. Cook dal in pressure cooker with enough water and turmeric powder.
4. Heat oil and fry onions till transparent.
5. Add chillies, tomatoes and fry for a few more minutes.
6. Mix cooked dal with ground mixture and salt.
7. Cook till raw smell is lost.
8. Fry jeera in hot ghee and add it with curry leaves and coriander leaves to the dal.
9. Serve hot.
