Ingredients:
Small Onions – 20, peeled
Tomato – 4, ripe
Tamarind extract
Salt to taste
Tofu – 1/4 cup, grated
Oil to fry
Jaggery – grated (optional)

Grind Together:
Coriander Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/4 tsp
Roasted Gram – 1 tblsp
Fresh Coconut – 1 tblsp, grated
Red Chilli Powder – 3/4 tsp

For Seasoning:
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Bengal Gram Dal – 2 tsp
Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs

Method:
1. Chop onion and tomatoes finely.
2. Heat oil in a kadai and add the seasonings.
3. When it crackles add the small onions.
4. When onions turn golden brown, add tomatoes and saute for a while.
5. Add ground paste and fry well until good aroma comes.
6. Add tamarind extract, salt, jaggery, enough water and bring it to a boil.
7. Add grated tofu, boil it for a while and remove from fire.
8. Serve with idli or dosa.
