Ingredients:
Split Green Gram – 1 1/4 cups, soaked for 30 minutes
Ghee – 4 tbsp
Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Bay leaves – 1 to 2
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
Mango Powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp

Method:
1. Heat the ghee in a kadai.
2. Add the cumin seeds, asafoetida, and bay leaves.
3. When they start spluttering, add the turmeric powder and red chilli powder, saute for a few minutes.
4. Add 1/2 cup water.
5. Mix well.
6. Add the drained green gram, salt, coriander powder and 1 cup water, stir occasionally and cook till the mixture is completely dry.
7. Before removing from heat, add garam masala, mango powder and sugar.
8. Mix lightly and serve.
