Using [homemade avalos powder](https://www.awesomecuisine.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/post/khoya-makhana.md) gives the best texture and taste. Store-bought [rice flour](https://www.awesomecuisine.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/post/jeera-peni.md) won’t have the same consistency or the essential coconut component. ### How do I know when the sugar syrup is ready? Drop a small amount in cold water – it should form a single thread when pulled. This usually takes about 5-7 [minutes of cooking](https://www.awesomecuisine.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/post/goan-prawn-caldine.md). ### Can I freeze these balls? While they can be frozen, it’s best to store them at room temperature in an [airtight container](https://www.awesomecuisine.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/post/almond-nankathai.md). Freezing might affect their texture. [_image credit_](https://images.slurrp.com/prod/recipe_images/transcribe/snack/Avalose_Unda.webp?impolicy=slurrp-20210601&width=1200&height=900&q=75)
