Vazhakkai Bajji Recipe

A very popular snack in South Indian. Often served as a tea time snack or as an evening snack with chutney.
Vazhakkai Bajji

Ingredients:
Raw Banana – 1
Chana Dal Flour – 1 cup
Rice Flour – 1/2 cup
Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Asafoetida Powder – a pinch (optional)

Method:
1. Peel the banana and slice into thin, circular pieces (or slice them lengthwise).
2. Mix chana dal flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt in a bowl.
3. Add enough water.
4. Prepare a thick batter.
5. Dip each slice in the batter so that a thick coating is formed.
6. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry till golden brown.
7. Serve with chutney.

Tip: Similarly potato, brinjal, snake gourd or onion can also be made into bajji.
