Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 kg Chicken (cut into pieces)
  • 5 tbsp Almond Paste
  • 1 cup Yoghurt (hung for 2 hours)
  • 4 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 4 tsp Garlic Paste
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 4 Green Chillies (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Onions (finely sliced)
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 100 g Capsicum (optional)
  • 4 tbsp White Butter
  • A few strands of Saffron dissolved in water
  • 1 tbsp Green Coriander (finely chopped)

Instructions

  • Mix almond paste, Yoghurt, ginger, garlic, salt, black pepper powder, lemon juice, and chopped green chillies to prepare the marinade.
  • Rub the marinade evenly over the chicken pieces and let it marinate for at least 4 hours.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan and sauté finely sliced onions and cumin seeds until golden brown.
  • Add marinated chicken (without excess marinade) to the pan and sauté until lightly browned.
  • Pour the remaining marinade, and cook until the chicken is halfway done.
  • Add optional capsicum and white butter to the pan, and continue cooking until the chicken is almost done.
  • Finally, add saffron water, cover the pan, and simmer until the chicken is cooked.
  • Garnish with finely chopped green coriander and green chillies before serving hot.
