Ingredients
For Gattas
3/4 cup gram flour (besan)
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp oregano (ajwain)
1/2 tsp aniseed (saunf)
1/2 cup curd
Salt (to taste)
For Kadhi
2 cups sour curd (beaten)
1 tbsp gram flour (besan)
6 – 8 curry leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp aniseed (saunf)
a pinch of asafoetida (heeng)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 – 3 dry red chillies
1 tsp oil
Salt (to taste)
Green coriander (to garnish)
Method
1. Mix all the ingredients for gattas and knead into a firm dough (use water if required).
2. Divide the dough into 6 – 8 equal portion and roll into cylindrical shapes to get almost 4” long rolls. Rub a little oil on your palms.
3. Put these rolls in 2 cups of water in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at 100% power for 6 – 7 mins.
4. Drain out extra water and cut the gattas into small pieces.
5. Beat curd, gram flour and 1/4 cup water together.
6. In a microwave safe bowl microwave oil at 100% power for 30 secs.
7. Add all dry spices for kadi and microwave at 100% power for 2 – 3 mins.
8. Mix the beaten curd-gram flour mixture and kadi. Stir & microwave for 4 – 5 mins. at 100% power. Now add prepared gattas to it.
9. Microwave (covered) at 80% power for 2 – 3 mins.
10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
