Moong Dal

Moong Dal – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Onion – 1/2 cup, chopped
Tomato – 1/2 cup, chopped
Garlic and ginger paste – 1 tsp
Coriander – 1/2 cup, chopped
Green chillies – 2, slit
Oil to fry onions – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste

1. Cook dal with turmeric and salt till soft.
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large pan.
3. Add jeera and fry for 5 seconds.
4. Now add onions and fry till pink.
5. Add ginger and garlic paste and fry for 1 minute.
6. Cook until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.
7. Add garam masala and pour this mixture on dal. Bring to a boil.
8. Garnish with coriander leaves. Stir and serve hot with rice or chapathis.
