Yellow moong dal – 1 cup, rinsed, soaked for 20 minutes and then drained
White basmati rice – 3 cups, rinsed, soaked for 20 minutes and then drained
Water – 8 cups
Salt – 2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 2 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
1. Heat oil in a skillet.
2. Add cumin seeds and allow to splutter.
3. Add the moong dal and rice and fry till the rice begins to pop.
4. Stir in salt and water.
5. Bring to a boil.
6. Lower flame, partially cover and cook till the water evaporates and rice is cooked.
7. Serve hot.
