Mulled wine is a type of wine that is heated with spices in order to give it a warm and spicy flavor. It is usually served hot, but it can also be served cold.

Mulled wine was originally created in the 16th century by the Dutch. It was first made with red wine and spices such as cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. The Dutch would serve this wine to their guests at Christmas time because they believed this drink could ward off evil spirits and diseases.

The British eventually adopted this drink and began serving it during Christmas time as well.

This tradition has continued into modern times where mulled wines are still served around the holidays.
