Made with small onions or shallots, this is a popular side dish recipe in many parts of South India.
Small Onions (Shallots) – 200 gms
Dry Red Chillies – 3
Urad Dal – 4 tsp
Tamarind – 1 small gooseberry sized ball (seedless)
Oil – 4 tsp
Salt as per taste
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Add the onions and saute well for 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Separately fry the urad dal and red chillies for 30 to 45 seconds.
4. Combine all the ingredients and grind to a fine paste.
5. Serve with dosa, chapati or rice.
