This dish is quite popular in Kanyakumari and is also know as “Kanyakumari Black Toor Dal Rice”.
Ingredients:
Rice – 2 cups
Black Toor Dal – 1 cup
Coconut – 1 cup, grated
Garlic – 7 to 8 cloves, crushed
Cumin Seeds – 4 tsp
Green Chillies – 6 to 8 (depending on size), chopped
Salt as per taste
Cashewnuts and Peanuts – little, lightly fried
Method:
1. Wash the rice and dal together and drain well.
2. Add garlic, cumin seeds and enough water.
3. Pressure cook until cooked.
4. Add salt, coconut, green chillies and mix well.
5. Garnish with the nuts.
5. Serve at once.
