Nellore Masala Rice Recipe

A simple and delicious rice from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. Serve with papads or appalam.
Nellore Masala Rice

Ingredients:
Rice – 500 gms, cooked
Sambar Onions – 20 to 25, finely chopped
Tomatoes – 4 to 5, finely chopped
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Ghee – little
Salt as per taste
Sesame Seeds – 1 tblsp
Coriander Seeds – 1 1/2 tblsp
Dry Red Chillies – 10 to 15
Cloves – 2

Method:
1. Dry roast the sesame seeds, coriander seeds, red chillies and cloves for a minute.
2. Grind them to a fine powder.
3. Heat ghee in a pan over medium flame.
4. Saute the onions and tomatoes for a minute or two.
5. Add salt and turmeric powder.
6. Add the ground powder and mix well.
7. Cook for a minute and add the rice.
8. Mix until well combined.
9. Serve at once.
