Dodyonam (also known as Curd Rice) is a traditional Brahmin (Iyengar) dish made during special occasions or during festivals. It is also offered as a prasadam in temples.
Ingredients:
Rice – 1 cup, cooked, mashed well and cooled
Coconut Milk – 1 cup
Curd – 1 cup
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida Powder – little
Green Chillies – 2, small, finely chopped
Coriander Seeds – little
Curry Leaves – little
Ghee – 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Pomegranate Seeds – handful
Green Grapes – handful
Method:
1. Add curd to the rice and gently mix.
2. Heat ghee in a pan.
3. Fry the mustard seeds, green chillies and asafoetida powder for a minute.
4. Add to the rice.
5. Add coconut milk, coriander leaves, curry leaves and salt.
6. Mix well.
7. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and grapes.
8. Serve at once.
