Brass Monkey Recipe

By | Published , Last Updated: November 22, 2013 | Cocktails | No Comment

This potent concoction originated at sea, though probably in the officer’s wardroom rather than the seaman’s quarters. The “Brass Monkey” was the name given to the metal rack on which cannonballs were stored on the mighty men-of-war of the great days of sail.

Ingredients:

  • White Rum – 1 part
  • Vodka – 1 part
  • Orange Juice – 4 parts
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange Slices

Method:

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the rum, vodka and orange juice.
  3. Stir carefully and then strain into a chilled highball glass.
  4. Garnish with the orange slice.
  5. Serve.
