Weathermen list hurricanes by category – the higher the number, the more potent the storm. This is also a fun way to let your guests know what kind of Hurricane you’re serving.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce white rum
  • ½ ounce dark rum
  • 2 ounces passion fruit juice
  • 2 ounces lemonade
  • 1 ounce orange juice
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • ½ teaspoon grenadine syrup

Method:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with ice.
  • Add all the ingredients, cover, and shake well.
  • Strain into a highball glass or hurricane glass with fresh ice.

Variations

  • HURRICANE (CATEGORY 2) Increase the white rum to 1 ½ ounces.
  • HURRICANE (CATEGORY 3) Increase the white rum to 1 ½ ounces and add ½ ounce crème de banane before shaking.
  • HURRICANE (CATEGORY 4) Increase the white rum to 1 ½ ounces, add ½ ounce crème de banane and ½ ounce peach schnapps before shaking.
  • HURRICANE (CATEGORY 5) Increase the white rum to 1 ½ ounces, increase the dark rum to 1 ounce, and add ½ ounce crème de banane and ½ ounce peach schnapps before shaking.
