Daiquiri is a town in Cuba, where this drink was said to have been invented in the early part of 20th century. A businessman had run out of gin, and so had to make do with the local drink- rum – which, at that time, was often of unreliable quality.
2 measures white rum
¾ measure lime juice
½ tsp sugar syrup
1. Pour the rum, lime juice and sugar syrup over ice and shake vigorously until well frosted.
2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
