This is another cocktail that has changed since its invention. When it first appeared gin-based cocktails were by far the most popular, but nowadays, a salty dog is more frequently made with vodka. You can use either spirit, but the cocktails will have different flavors.
METHOD:
1. Mix the sugar and salt in a saucer.
2. Rub the rim of a chilled Collins glass with the lime wedge, and then dip it in the sugar and salt mixture to frost.
3. Fill the glass with cracked ice cubes and pour the vodka over them.
4. Top up with grape fruit juice and stir to mix.
Serve with a straw.
