Classic Pickles Recipe

Ingredients :
quarts sliced cucumbers – 4
sliced onions – 6
chopped peppers – 2
cloves of garlic – 4
kosher salt  – 1/3 cup
white sugar – 5 cups
turmeric – 1 1/2 tsp
celery seed – 2 tbsp
mustard seed – 2 tbsp
vinegar – 3 cups
ice cubes

Method :
1.  Slice, but do not peel, cucumbers. They should measure four quarts after they are sliced.
2.  Mix onions, peppers and garlic cloves in with the cucumbers, cover with ice and mix. Let stand three hours.
3.  After three hours, drain the water from the vegetable mixture.
4.  Combine all other ingredients in a separate bowl and pour over vegetables.
5.  Heat combination to a boil and seal in sterilized, hot jars.
