Puli Avial
Ingredients:
Raw Banana – 1
Drumstick – 1
Colocasia – 100 gms
Cluster Beans – 100 gms
Field Beans – 100 gms
Raw Mango – 1, small
Elephant Yam – 100 gms
Potato – 1
Brinjal – 1 or 2, small
Turmeric Powder –  a small pinch
Coconut Oil – 1/2 tblsp
Salt as per taste
Tamarin Extract – 1/2 to 3/4 cup, thin

Grind together:

Coconut – 3/4 cup, grated
Green Chillies – 6
Cumin Seeds – 3/4 tsp
Raw Rice – 1 tblsp, soaked

Method:
1. Chop all the vegetables into 1 inch pieces.
2. Pressure cook the potatoes and colocasia.
3. Peel the skins and keep aside.
4. Heat a pan over moderate flame.
5. Add all the vegetables, except potato and colocasia,  and cook in enough water.
6. Add turmeric powder and stir.
7. Now add the potato, colocasia, salt, tamarind extract and ground paste.
8. Simmer for a few minutes and bring to a boil.
9. When the avial is thick, heat a little coconut oil and pour on top.
10. Serve hot.
