Yam Roast Recipe
Ingredients :
Yam, cleaned, peeled and cut into slices - 1/4 kg
A small pellet of tamarind
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Method :
1. Wash yam thoroughly. Peel the rough skin and cut into 1" by 1/2" slices (not very thick).
2. Add some water to the yam pieces and cook either directly or in a pressure cooker till soft.
3. Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup hot water take out thick pulp. To this add turmeric, chilly powder and salt. Smear this paste on the slices, set aside for half an hour.
4. Heat oil (about 1/2 cup), add slices and fry till crisp and brown.
