Ingredients :
Rice flour - 2 cups
Blackgram dal flour - 2 tbsp
Hot oil for mixing - 4 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
A large pinch of asafoetida
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
method :
1. Lightly fry the rice flour before using.
2. In a mixing bowl, put in all the ingredients expect oil for frying. Heat 4 tbsp oil, pour over all the ingredients. Mix all of it well. then sprinkling some water make a soft dough.
3. Heat oil. Use a murukku press, with a thenguzhal disc. Take a handful of dough. Put it into the press and press gently onto the hot oil making a concentric circle as big as you require.
4. Bast oil on top of the thenguzhal as it is getting done. Turn over when one side has become gloden browm, fry the other side.
5. Cool thoroughly and store in an airtight tin.
