Ribbed Gourd Dal Recipe

Ingredients:
Ribbed Gourd - 2
Chana Dal - 2 tblsp
Tomatoes - 2, chopped
Green Chillies - 6, chopped
Oil - 1 tblsp
Garlic - 1 tsp, ground
Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander - 1/2 tsp, dry roasted and ground
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Cumin Powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 bunch

For Seasoning:
Oil - 1 tblsp
Dry Red Chillies - 2
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves - 6

Method:
1. Peel and cut gourd into 1 1/2 inch pieces.
2. Boil the chana dal in 1 1/2 cups of water till soft.
3. Add gourd, tomatoes and green chillies.
4. Cook till the gourd is soft and tender but not mushy.
5. Heat oil in a pan.
6. Fry garlic, red chilli powder, coriander, turmeric powder, salt and cumin powder.
7. Add the vegetables and simmer for 5 minutes.
8. Keep aside to cool.
9. Fry the seasoning ingredients till brown.
10. Pour over the vegetables and cover with a lid.
11. Garnish with coriander leaves.
12. Serve hot.
