Ingredients

  • 1 Chicken (medium, jointed)
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • 2 Onions (finely sliced)
  • 2 tbsp Curd - 2 tbsp
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder - tsp
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 3/4 cup Oil
  • 3 cups Water - 3 cups
  • 2 Cardamoms (large)
  • 1 inch Cinnamon
  • 3 Green Chillies (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Caraway Seed Powder
  • 2 cups Fenugreek Leaves (without stems)
  • Juice of 1 Lime

Instructions

  • Marinate chicken in ginger, garlic, one sliced onion, curd, red chilli powder, turmeric, and salt.
  • Fry the marinated chicken in half the oil until browned.
  • Add 3 cups of water and cook until 2/3rds of the water dries and the chicken is tender.
  • Add the remaining oil, cardamoms, cinnamon, green chillies, caraway seed powder, and sliced onion in a separate pan. Fry until cardamoms release aroma.
  • Add chopped fenugreek leaves and fry for 3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked chicken and simmer until the aroma of fenugreek leaves permeates.
  • Pour lime juice over it.
  • Serve hot with roti.
