Mixed Sambar Recipe
Ingredients:
Tamarind Extract - 1 cup
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Channa Dal - 1 tsp
Moong Dal - 1 tsp
Arhar Dal - 1 tsp
Pepper - 6
Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
Red Chilli - 4
Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
Curry Leaves - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Brinjal or Lady's Finger - 4 to 6
Oil - 4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Add salt and turmeric powder to the tamarind extract.
2. Chop the vegetables into small pieces.
3. Heat oil in pan and fry the vegetables for a minute or two.
4. Add the vegetables to the tamarind extract and let it boil for sometime.
5. Fry the channa dal, moong dal, urad dal, arhar dal, pepper, coriander seeds, red chilli and asafoetida in oil until they brown in colour.
6. Grind them smoothly in a mixie.
7. Mix with the sambar.
8. Fry the mustard seeds, coriander and curry leaves in 1 tsp of oil.
9. Add it to the sambar.
10. Allow it to simmer for a minute or two.
11. Serve hot with rice.
