Chingri Macher Malai Curry Recipe
Ingredients:
Prawns - 1 kg, shelled
Turmeric Powder - 3 tsp
Salt - 3 to 4 tsp
Creamed Coconut - 1/2 cup
Water - 3 cups
Oil - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1, large, chopped
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Green Chillies - 3, chopped
Method:
1. Marinate the prawns with salt and turmeric powder.
2. Keep aside for 30 minutes.
3. Blend together the creamed coconut and water.
4. Keep aside.
5. Heat the oil in a kadai.
6. Fry the prawns over a high flame, until they are golden brown in colour.
7. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep aside.
8. To the same oil, add the onions and fry till golden brown.
9. Add the red chilli powder and cook for 2-3 minutes.
10. Add the coconut-milk mixture and bring to a boil.
11. Add the prawns and green chillies.
12. Cover and cook over a low flame for 20 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
13. Serve hot.
