Prawn Oolarthiathu Recipe

Ingredients:
Prawns - 1/2 kg

For the Masala:
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Pepper Powder - 1/8 tsp
Button Onions - 10
Ginger - 2 inch piece
Garlic Cloves - 10
Cocum - 3 pieces, washed and soaked in water
Curry Leaves - 8 to 10
Water - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Ginger - 1 tsp, julienned

For the Seasoning:
Coconut Oil or any Refined Vegetable Oil - 1/2 cup
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Onion - 2 cups, sliced
Curry Leaves - few

Method:
1. Wash prawns, shell and devein.
2. Coarsely grind chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, onions, ginger and garlic cloves.
3. In an earthernware vessel, mix the ground ingredients with cocum, a few of the curry leaves, water and salt.
4. Immerse and cook prawns untils soft with 1 tsp ginger.
5. When the curry is almost dry, remove from fire.
6. Heat the oil in a pan.
7. Splutter the mustard seeds, add the sliced onions and fry till brown.
8. Add the remaining curry leaves.
9. Add the prawn mixture and fry well.
10. Remove from fire and serve hot.
