- Basic White Sauce
Basic White Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
Butter - 1 tblsp
Refined Flour - 1 tblsp
Milk - 1 cup
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp freshly ground
Method:
1. Heat the butter in a heavy based pan over low heat.
2. Add the flour and stir until it sizzles. Take care that it does not turn brown.
3. Pour in the milk slowly, stirring vigorously to ensure that no lumps are formed.
4. Continue cooking over moderate heat, stirring continuously until the sauce is thick.
5. Add the salt and pepper.
6. Remove the sauce from the heat as use as required.
