Dal Kofta Curry Recipe
Ingredients:
For Koftas
1 cup Tuvar or Arhar Dal
1/2 tsp Ginger, grated
1/2 tsp Garlic, grated
1 small Onion
handful of Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
For Curry
4 cups Buttermilk
4 Green Chillies, slit
1/4 Coconut, grated
1 tsp Ginger, grated
1 tsp Coriander seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp Chana Dal
1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
a few Curry leaves
handful of Corinader leaves
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Wash and soak dal for a few hours.
2. Drain the water and grind dal to a coarse paste along with ginger, garlic, chillies and onions.
3. Mix salt and coriander leaves in the paste.
4. Form the pasteinto small balls and steam the balls for 20 minutes.
5. Grind chana dal, coconut, coriander, cumin and fenugreek seeds to a paste.
6. Mix the paste into the buttermilk along with turmeric and salt.
7. Place buttermilk on fire and put in the green chillies and dal koftas.
8. Boil for 2-3 minutes and remove the curry from fire.
9. Heat 2 tblsp of oil and put in mustard seeds and curry leaves.
10. When the seeds stop bursting, pour the oil over curry.
11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
