Tuna Vattichathu Recipe
Ingredients:
Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp
Green chillies - 4, chopped
Onion - 1, chopped
Tuna in oil - 300 gms (usally canned)
Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coconut - 1 cup, grated
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garlic - 1 tsp, chopped
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Ginger - 1 tsp, chopped
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Leaving aside tamarind paste, curry leaves and water, coarsely grind all the other ingredients, including coconut together. While grinding, mix very little water, if necessary.
2. Take the coarse mixture in a pan. Pour the water and put in curry leaves and tamarind paste. Blend thoroughly. Let it come to a boil.
3. Break open the tuna can(s). Drain off the oil. Then put tuna into the gravy boiling in the pan. Cover with a lid. Simmer for about 6 minutes. Wait till the tuna is well mixed with the gravy and properly cooked.
4. Serve hot.
