Ambot Tik Recipe
Ingredients:
Fish - 1/2 kg, preferably skate, shark or catfish
Dry red chillies - 10
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Peppercorns - 4
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Garlic - 4 flakes
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Tamarind - 1, small piece
Onion - 1, fully sliced
Water as required
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt as per taste
Method:
1. Marinate the washed and cleaned fish pieces with salt and keep aside.
2. Make a smooth paste of ground ingredients, mentioned above with a little water.
3. Fry the sliced onion in hot oil till it turns golden brown, then add the masala paste and fry a little.
4. Now pour a cup of water, add the fish pieces and bring it to boil.
5. Cook till tender.
6. Add salt and simmer for 5 minutes.
