Spinach Dal Recipe
Ingredients
Spinach - 2 bunches
Toor dal - 1 cup
Onion (big)- 1
Green Chillies - 2 (medium spice)
Tamarind - 1 small ball (or Tamarind paste - 1 tea spoon)
Sambar powder - 1 to 11/2 teaspoons
Turmeric - 1/4 tea spoon
Curry leaves
Salt - as per taste
For Seasoning:
Oil - 2 teaspoons
Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
Jeera - 1/4 teaspoon
Red Chillies - 1
Hing - 1 pinch
Method:
Pressure cook Dal separately adding adequate water. Keep aside.
Wash the Spinach leaves and chop them.
Chop onions and Green Chillies.
Soak the tamarind in water for some time and squeeze the pulp (do not make thick paste).
Now mix all the above (Except Dal) adding curry leaves, turmeric powder and sambar powder and boil it till the spinach leaves and the onions are cooked well.
Once the Spinach and onions are cooked, add the Dal. Mix well.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, jeera red chillies, hing. After the mustard seeds splutter add this to the Spinach and Dal mixture.
Tastes good with hot rice and Ghee and roti's too.

I was looking for a spinach dal recipe, and was hoping to use moong dal. Your ingredient list looked promising, but the instructions look like they are to a different recipe. I may try to wing it a bit, but I would love to see the instructions that go with these ingredients. Thanks for posting!
