Masala Kichadi Recipe
It is one of the Pongal types with some masala and vegetable in it annd it is a awesome dish with a different flavor.
Ingredients
Rice – 1 cup
Toor Dhall – ½ cup
Water – 4 cups
Potato – 1 (Medium)
Onion – 1
Green Peas – ½ cup
Green Chillies – 4
Dhaniya/Corriander powder – 1 tbsp
Jeera/Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
Turmeric – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
For Seasoning
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard – ½ tbsp
Jeera – ½ tbsp
Cloves – 3 or 4
Red Chillies – 2 or 3
Cinnamon Sticks – 3 or 4
Method:
1. Take a kadai and add oil and ghee.
2. When it is hot, add Mustard, Jeera, Cloves, Red Chillies and Cinnamon Sticks and allow it to splatter
3. Add Green Chillies, Dhaniya powder, Jeera powder, Turmeric, Onion and fry till light golden brown
4. Add the Potatoes cut into small pieces and the Green Peas to the kadai
5. In the mean time, wash the Rice and Toor Dhall and drain the water.
6. Add the Rice and Toor Dhall to the kadai and fry for 2 minutes.
7. Take the pressure cooker and add all the above ingredients
8. Add water to it and also salt as per taste
9. Allow 2 -3 whistles and when the pressure is completely gone open and serve hot.
