Gasa Gasa Payasam Recipe
Ingredients :
Gasa Gase - 1/2 cup
Fine rice - 1 tbsp
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup
Jaggery powdered - 1/2 - 1 cup
Milk - 1 1/2 -2 cups
Cardamoms, powdered - 3-4.
Method :
1. Dry roast gasa gase in a kadai, wash and soak for 20-30 minutes, soak rice separately. Grind both together with coconut gratings to a very fine paste. Add 1 1/2 -2 cups water, mix thoroughly.
2. Set the ground gasa -gase to boil. Let it simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, stir all the while so that it does not get burnt at the bottom of the pan.
3. Boil 1- 1 1/2 cups water add jeaggery, allow to dissolve. When fully dissolved, remove from the fire , strain the syrup to remove any grit. Now add this to boiling gasa gase mixture and keep stirring. Cook for 15-20 minutes more.
4. Remove from fire, add ordinary milk and cardamom powder, mix well.
5. If desired, fry a few pieces pf cashew nut pieces and some raisins in 1 tbsp ghee and add to payasam.
