Delicious Dessert Ideas for Christmas

Celebrating the birth of the mankind’s savior- Jesus Christ, calls for preparing mouth-watering meals and delicious desserts. Desserts hold a better priority than the meals during Christmas season, especially in South India. A wide variety of yummy cakes are made and distributed by our Christian folks during this time of the year. Here are a few delicious Christmas dessert ideas for you.

MALT CHOCOLATE CHEESE CAKE

This is new, easy and pleasing recipe to try. The best part is, it doesn’t need any cooking. Here is what you’ll need to make it for 10 serves.

  • Crushed malted milk biscuits -200g
  • Melted milk bar chocolate- 200g
  • Melted butter- 100g
  • Melted white chocolate- 300g
  • Horlicks – 2 tbsp
  • Caster sugar- 5 tablespoons
  • Double cream – 300ml
  • Maltesers –2 tsps

Preparation: Apply butter to the base and sides of a round bottomed tin. Mix together the crumbled biscuits and melted butter along with two tablespoons of sugar. Now apply this mixture evenly to the base and press well. Chill it in the refrigerator.

Now, cut up the cream into two equal parts and place them in separate vessels. Mix in the white chocolate in one bowl, and the bar chocolate and the remaining sugar in the other. Blend the mixtures well separately with the help of a blender.

Take out the tine from the fridge, apply an even layer of the milk chocolate mixture first, and then the white chocolate mixture next. Top it with maltesers decorations and chill further for five more hours. Take out, make slices, and serve.

POMEGRANATE ICE

Pomegranate is simple and refreshing dessert to serve to family and guests during the Christmas Eve. All you need to make it are eight pomegranates and 450 g of caster sugar. Take 600 ml of hot boiling water in a vessel and mix in the caster sugar. Stir well till all the sugar dissolves in the water and then let it to cool down. Now, take seven pomegranates and squeeze their skin and press them well so that the seeds inside gets crushed. Now, hold them one by one over a bowl while you cut open their skin to allow the juice to fall into the bowl. Mix the sugar syrup with the juice and then churn it using an ice cream machine if you own one, and then freeze. If you don’t have an ice-cream machine, freeze the mixture and then break it with a fork to crumble it into small slushy crystals. Then freeze again to make the final pomegranate ice dessert. Serve this in scoops with some seeds of the left out pomegranate.

APPLE PUDDING

Ingredients:

  • 250g of peeled, cored and sliced apples
  • 240g caster sugar
  • 120g of butter
  • 240g currants
  • A pinch of nutmeg (grated)
  • 12 almonds (roasted)
  • 250g Bread crumbs
  • 3 Egg Yolks
  • 3 Eggs
  • Custard
  • Half a cup of brandy

Preparation: Beat together the sugar and the butter. Mix in the apple slices, nutmeg, almonds and currants. Add the breadcrumbs too. Beat together the eggs and the yolks and add it to the mixture along with brandy. Apply butter to the sides and bottom of a pudding basin and pour the mixture into it and cover it with Aluminum foil underlined with baking paper.

Now, place it in a saucepan filled up to its half with water. Heat the saucepan and make the water in it to boil. Lower the flame and steam for three hours. Add water whenever it goes down. When done, keep aside for 10 mins. Turn out on a plate and serve along with custard.

CHOC-COCONUT CHRISTMAS BALLS

Ingredients

  • One and a half cups of shredded coconut
  • 180g Chopped dark chocolate
  • 250g Sweet biscuits
  • 395g Condensed milk (sweetened)
  • 100g of finely chopped Red Cherries

Preparation: Take a large tray and line it with baking paper and process the biscuits to make them look like fine crumbs of bread. Microwave the chocolate on medium high for about 2 mins while stirring once in every 30 secs with a metal spoon. Mix in chocolate, cherries and condensed milk with the crumbled biscuits. Add the left out coconut and using your palms roll out balls with every tablespoon of the mixture. Coat the balls with coconut shreds and serve. You can even gift wrap them in a beautiful gift box and present it to your friends as a home-made treat.
