Ugadi Recipes

Ugadi or Gudi Padwa is considered an auspicious day in peninsular India. It is the first day of the springtime month and brings the dawn of a new year. The word gudi is symbolic of a victory banner raised to celebrate the coming of a new year.
The New Year feast is a variety of sweets and savouries and the day's highlight is the reading of the new planetary conjuctions and the star positions.
